From The Fresko Kitchen

Many of the worlds cultures enjoy some sort of libation. The Germans are known for beer, Russians for vodka and the Irish love whiskey, but the Greeks have been perfecting wine since the beginning of civilization. Enjoying a wine with amazing Greek food in our Ahwatukee restaurant is just one of the benefits of living in a place full of diverse food.  In a study done by Faculty of Agriculture of the Aristotelian University of Thessaloniki, they found 91% of the individuals that participated drank wine.  Greek wines are quickly gaining popularity world-wide. With over 300 varieties of grapes grown in Greece, what Greek wines pair well with Greek courses?

Greek Salad with Chicken pairs well with a crisp, bright white. Spiropoulos is produced in the middle of the Peloponnese mountain region where Chef Kody's family is from. We love this wine, as it goes perfectly with region flavors passed down in family recipes.
A sparkling wine can help bring out the best in Spanakopita. For this, we suggest Amalia Brut.
Craving Lamb Souvlaki? We suggest Xinomavro Ramnista by Ktima Kir-Yianni. This wine is comparable to a Pinor Noir.
A traditional dish, Moussaka, can easily be over-powered with a heavy red. Try something with a medium body, Agiorgitiko from Semeli 2010 will do the trick.

I hope these suggestions give suggestions for wine enthusiasts. Stop by your favorite wine store on your way to Fresko. We are BYOB with no cork fee.

Until the next time, Take care!

Fresko Kitchen was born from Chef Kody's Greek heritage and her deep passion for culinary arts. As a long-time, high-volume chef Kody had perfected other people's recipes, but had more to say through her own food. We recognized a need for authentic Greek & Mediterranean food in  Phoenix. On November 8th, 2016 we opened our dream as a fast-casual cafe in Ahwatukee. Since then we have worked out the kinks and perfected our operations. Our daily goal is to provide quality ingredients and the most consistent cuisine possible. Our long-time goal is to become the best Ahwatukee lunch spot or if we are reaching for the stars, the best Phoenix cafe. We appreciate you taking this journey with us.  All the amazing reviews  have really kept the motivation and our spirit alive.  Chasing your dreams is what life is all about, and we are so glad you are apart of our dream.
If you are in the area  come by and see us and try the best Mediterranean food in Phoenix.
